The WBC superbantamweight silver champion, Mexico’s Juan Carlos Burgos, will put his title on the line against former world champion Cristobal Cruz in the 10 round main fight taking place in Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware, this fight can be watch during ESPN’s show “Friday Night Fights”.
“This is another step on his career, this bout will take Burgos closer to the WBC title, he tried once against Hasegawa but he was defeated, but he stills on the road of becoming champion and soon, all his dreams will come true. Cristobal Cruz is a great rival who will give a hell of a fight against a future champion, so we are confident in that it will be a great bout” said the president of Thompson Promotions, Ken Thompson.
Burgos, 25, achieved the WBC silver title that was vacant over the Puerto Rican Luis Cruz by decision in ten rounds last November 11th. He is currently ranked in the second place in the WBC rankings and he has three wins in a row since his last and only defeat against Hozumi Hasegawa during the WBC featherweight championship bout in November 2010, in that fight, Juan made a great fight with great boxing but he lost the fight by decision in 12 rounds in Nagoya, Japan
