Elio Rojas gets ready for bout against Jhonny Gonzalez

Elio Rojas from Dominican Republic is getting ready for his fight for the WBC featherweight title against Mexican Jhonny Gonzalez next April 14th.
Born in Villa Riva, Dominican Republic, Rojas returned to his hometown last Tuesday to begin his trainings in the Olympic Center Gym.
“Everybody knows Elio has made almost his entire career in U.S.” Rojas’ agent Tony Tineo said. “But this time there’s special interests that he trains mostly his entire preparation in Dominican Republic” he said.
Elio conquered the WBC featherweight on July, 2009 after he defeated Japanese Takahiro Aoh by UD in Japan.
Rojas successfully defended against Guty Espada by UD in Mexico City in 2010.
Then he had more than a year and a half of inactivity following an injury that required surgery on his right hand, so the WBC declared him as champion in recess.
But now, the Dominican boxer is fully recovered; he showed it after he defeated Mexican Arturo Gomez last year in Dominican Republic.
The WBC ordered current champion Gonzalez a mandatory bout vs Rojas, this will take place next April 14th in Mexico.
Gonzalez from Mexico has stated that he early began his preparations due to the fact that he wishes to “destroy the Dominican”.
He also admitted that Rojas is a very dangerous rival for which he has to get a great physical and mental condition.
In the other corner, Rojas said that he isn’t worried about facing Gonzalez on his hometown.
“It won’t be the first time I do this. I became champion in Japan and defended it Mexico and now I’ll get it back in Mexico and bring the belt with me to Dominican Republic” Rojas said.
