Alexander Povetkin Keeps His Title With Difficulty

Russian Alexander Povetkin (24-0-0) retained his WBA heavyweight title against German Marco Huck (34-2-0) current champion WBO light-heavyweight last night at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart (Germany). The Russian won the fight in points decision in a majority of judges with a score at 114-114, 116-113 and 116-112 for Povetkin.

Despite the score, Huck has produced a courageous performance in this fight in 12 rounds. The German was his first fight in the premier class and was not unworthy either. The latter stood up to the Russian who was sometimes overwhelmed by the speed of "Käpt'n Huck." The fight was poor technique, Marco Huck United States repeatedly shook many vices that Povetkin as many elbows, behind the head shots and shots after the break.
