Tada, Ando keep female belts

Unbeaten WBA female minimumweight champ Etsuko Tada (10-0-2, 2 KOs; amateur mark 47-3), 105, a Japanese southpaw, kept her belt for the seventh time as she displayed faster combinations and good skills to pound out a unanimous decision (97-93 twice and 96-94) over Mexican Maria Salinas (9-3-1, 4 KOs), 102.75, over ten hard-fought rounds on Sunday in Osaka, Japan. The official tallies were as follows: Chalerm Prayadsab (Thailand) and Kazunobu Asao (Japan) both 97-93, and Carla Caiz (US) 96-94, all for Tada.

Also, WBA light minimumweight ruler Mari Ando (9-3, 4 KOs), 101.5, Japan, retained her title as she showed her technical improvement and earned a nearly lopsided verdict (100-90, 99-91 and 98-92) over ten busy-punching sessions. The scoresheets read: Prayadsab 99-91, Asao 100-90 and Caiz 98-92, all for the defending champ. Romina Arroyo, an Argentine female referee, remarkably handled both bouts to win
the crowd’s admiration.
